Oh good grief!! I could totally see all my hounds doing this. With all the rain we've had in SW MO this year I have to be careful where they run around.
Funny but OMG I'm soooo glad all mine have been pretty prissy when it comes to the pig wallowing. Odie will walk around puddles and picks up his feet in wet grass like eeewwww. My JRT was the same way - he didn't do wet.
I can understand the bare patches and puddle. It is such a small yard and those types of dogs like to dig a lot.
I noticed a house in town that has two German shep dogs tied up to trees in the front yard. They do seem to have shelter and water but the area they are tied to is all dirt due to their pacing. Every time it rains these poor dogs are covered in Mud. I do not approve of how these people are treating their animals but I can't see any outright "cruelty"; it is just slob pet owners treating animals poorly.
My 2 will barely walk on wet grass much less wallow in mud. However if there is a dead worm or bird poop on the sidewalk Lucy is all into it almost in ecstasy rolling around in it.
We live in a No Tethering community which is something people could lobby for in their own communities. People started it by alerting animal control to poor dogs tied up all day with poor shelter and no water and eventually it became a popular cause as it is all over the country.
The other doggie is like "dude wtf! you better get outta there before you get in trrrrouble!
