My dog is about 50 lbs, half greyhound and half Aussie shepherd (so I was told anyway haha)

I was sitting in my chair tonight reading a book and she kept bugging me to pet her by knocking the book with her nose. Finally in frustration I said "Okay just climb up on my lap and I'll pet you while I read!" and I patted my lap.

Now...she's never sat in my lap before because she's really too big to do it, but as soon as I patted my lap, up she hopped and just curled up on my lap...sort of...hanging off in all directions. I petted her for a while, and then made her get down when I lost all feeling in my lower body. But now every time I sit down tonight she tries to climb into my lap!!

I've created a monster!!

Awww, that is sweet! Yep, looks like you created a monster, but your dog sounds like a sweetie. They don't know their size, they just want love. What's a little lower body paralysis for love?

And the problem with that is?

Maybe he/she just wants you to get off the couch so they can have it. Dogs get first dibs on who sits where. Remember that.

What, isn't it enough that she gets the "ing" in the king sized bed? I'm left with only the "k" of the korner...lol

How 50 lbs of dog can take up the space that an extra-large man would fit into easily...well, I don't know how she does it.

Dogs need to stretch out to be comfortable, you can scrunch in the corner.

Try a 100+ hound that thinks lap dog, they learning just head on lap is enough now and they cuddle right in..2 couches fight to sit and 1 takes a whole couch that fit 5 people.
