My heart breaks for this poor animal. How can anybody do something so cruel? Are they lacking a compassion gene? Are they like this to every living thing? People like this need to be jailed indefinitely and let the kids with 1 ounce of pot go free.

Is it reasonable to ask that posters listing situations involving cruelty indicate that in the title heading?
I understand that quite often, a post about cruelty might involve info as to how to contribute to the animal's well being or how to contact prosecutors, and I really appreciate that. Would just like to know what kind of thing I'm going to be reading. Thanks.

when you click on the link, the headline might give you a clue. Then just don't read it.

You could also ask the OP if the article/video involves something awful-really awful, then decide.

nk and others have posted things I won't look at and I've seen others make the same comment about not reading something.

I think this is a good idea. I see enough horrific things through my volunteering. I'm glad I read the thread before I clicked on the link.

to be fair I've never posted (to my knowledge) any story or video involving suffering and cruelty unless it had a happy ending. When we see videos or stories about dogs full of mange found wandering the streets close to death, and then see the remarkable recovery, I think that is uplifting and should give hope to people who might think this is a lost case. The stories about Michael Vick's dogs which were so abused and then nurtured back to health and eventually made good pets is an example. Hoping folks will not automatically write off such dogs from the beginning. But I am loathe to read or watch many stories involving misery myself so I will certainly refrain from posting anything other than cherry, sunshiney stories from now on.

So glad the dog was saved. I don't understand how anyone could do something like that. The article said they tracked the owner down and believe he buried the dog because it had arthritis.

Hope that owner never gets sick... what comes around...

Tongue firmly in cheek? I in no way meant that OP should censor herself, never mind to sunshine stories. The point is well taken that OP's posts have positive resolutions. It's just that such stories do make me feel stricken and it's the knowledge of the cruelty that strikes me. When I saw the heading "Incredible rescue," I thought maybe people saved a dog from falling off a cliff or something.
