TerraDown, I know you know, but for anyone reading the thread tethering is a horrible suggestion. It's cruel and can lead to a number of problems.
We have to tether our hounds or, keep them in the kennel all day.

They would be 20 miles from home in a short amount of time.

They do get plenty of exercise.

I'd fence off an area and let them run in that.

They are hunting dogs.

They will do what it takes to go hunting.

I learned the hard way NEVER to turn them loose without GPS collars.

And when they are loose.........years of breeding tells them not to come back.

I don't believe it's impossible to construct fencing that will contain them.

I get that it's easier and cheaper to tether them. Doesn't make it right as far as I'm concerned.

Provided there are no obstructions there is absolutely nothing wrong with tethering

whatever happened to just putting and keeping the dog inside the house ? then tell her if your dog gets sick from her junk food she can pay the vet bill and tell her if she does not think that she will have to pay the bill just watch an episode of Judge Judy . Always be calm when telling her this , never loose your temper and talk to the husband too let him know as well that if the dog gets sick you will seek compensation for the vet bill . Have a nice day and walk away .

Our hounds are well cared for.

You really do not know this type of hunting dog.

It is common in this area for the county sheriff to stop traffic on main roads so they can cross when they are hunting.

Lets face it Driller Not everyone Runs their dog 20 miles a day tied behind a truck. Nor turns them loose to hunt Bears! Most people just want peaceful enjoyment at home being Lazy with their dogs....they are called Pet owners tho I believe they are the ones owned..as the dogs don't have any jobs & the people work their butts off catering to them

Some dogs Need to be tied for Their Safety Done correctly is Not cruel. I know folks that put fencing in & 10 seconds later the dogs over the fence & Gone! I pay to have a 10 foot tall fence special ordered & installed to keep one of my shelties in 10 seconds After I put her in the fencing she was Over the fence & sitting by my side! I was writing the check to pay for something I didn't even need!

Leo (already mentioned) is in an indoor dog, but he still has to stretch and run, poop and pee. And it is his property. I think I have his situation resolved.

As stated, I am not confronting the neighbors. It would be fruitless, even harmful.
Thank all of you for your suggestions.
