All of my Great Danes have done it. I have two now. Imagine-two Great Danes following Mommy into a tiny bathroom. Talk about having no room to move! They have to know what she is doing and assist her every minute of every day. Never mind; you don't even have to imagine it. Here's a goofy picture (Don't worry. You won't see anything but the dogs).

Can not complain about my dogs following me in as while not small dogs they
do leave me much more space then your Danes leave you
Most of my Chihuahuas were the same way. They wanted to know where I was and if I did close the door to take a shower and keep the warm air IN the bathroom they would be waiting on the other side when I opened the door. My rescue cat does the same thing.
Both mine (Maltipoo and a Shih Tzu) follow me in when I'm doing business. They seem to think it's the ideal time to be pet. If I'm using the shower, neither wants to risk the possibility of the dreaded bath. The second I turn on the faucet, they scatter to the bedroom.
I know individual dogs do it but I personally know few Aussie owners and am part of an Aussie facebook group that consistently say that about their Aussies.
Of course some dogs will escort you into the bathroom from time to time but Aussies seem to do it consistently and will stay there until owners leave.
You don't appear to be understanding what has been posted so far.
The behavior *IS NOT* an Aussie only behavior that other dogs partake in from *time to time*.
It is *an animal* behavior in general not limited to Aussie's, dogs, cats, etc.
I haven't been to the bathroom in our home by myself for more than 10 years now because ALL
of our animals *dogs and cats* go in with me and stay until I leave.
All our dogs and cats have always followed into the bathroom. Really just follow us anywhere. And they all like to make a hammock out of dropped trousers...
