Obviously they allow you to live in their house because you're good to have around--you can light the fireplace and open cans. They probably also like you.
I took Pearls pup Macy and the old girl Dutch out for a week of hunting.
Dutch is 10 and she hunted like she was 5. Worked with Macy on some basic OJT. She found some birds, works pretty well and about the 2nd day started listening to commands. A little more cooperative than Pearl.
And the third day she went on a rock solid point in some thick brush. Unfortunately it was a porcupine.
Hopefully she learned her lesson.
Got home and put the birds up to air- 9 pheasants. My old buddy Schnitzel was none too happy about not going. He stared at the birds for a long time. He's next out.

Porkies: yup, hopefully lesson learned. There are a LOT worse places to get quilled - and the prime one is the usual, obvious one - the snout.
