Marley and Me is the only one in the genre that I've read (other than Where the Red Fern Grows).I know there is one about a 9/11 working rescue dog .. something like "Bear". I have always meant to read it.Love Marley and Me ... really conveyed the cycle of life, the very rapid cycle of life when it comes to dogs.
I also loved Marley and Me, Where the Red Fern Grows, Stone Fox, and Old Yeller.
bellestaroftexas - i don't know what your taste in books is and this one may be a little too intense for you, but...julius winsome by gerard donovan was a very good book, at least imo.
i'm glad you started this thread...i've read some of the other suggestions (marley and me, the art of racing in the rain - and i second those, for the record), and i can't wait to check out some of the others!
I LOVED "Racing in the Rain"...LOVED IT! I know more about auto racing than I ever thought I would, but I found it to be an excellent read for a hot summer day...and you can read it in a day. I did!
Awesome book, definitely a tear jerker for me though. Started reading "Edgar Sawtelle" book about the mute boy and his dog. I've got about 75 pages into it and can't get hooked. Has anyone read this? Does it get better? It's on the bestsellers list.
Amazing Gracie! It's a great book written by the two guys that own Three Dog Bakery about their Blind Great Dane Gracie. It's really good.
Clara: The Early Years (AKA...The Story of the Pug Who Ruled my Life )
