Well, If his dogs are still pooping in the house after ten years, I agree there is a problem!

He's a very young clueless puppy - take him outside on a leash, he's outside to 'go', he can play later - you go w/ him, don't just watch him - so you know what he's doing (or not doing) - he's small and young and is eating often and needs to 'go' often - get him on a schedule (as best you can), take him out when he wakes up, after he eats, when he starts circling etc - learn his signals no matter how subtle they may be - again, he's very young and doesnt have the bladder/bowel control that he'll have in the future. Crating is fine but don't over-crate him - you don't want him getting in the habit of 'going' in his crate - they want to be clean and usually don't piddle/poop or mark in the crate if you take him outside often. Also, PRAISE him to the skies when he does 'go' outside (he's not going to hear the praise if you're inside and he's outside or you're a distance away

Just some thoughts, relax and enjoy him and he'll figure it out - but it does take time (maybe months as he's so young, small puppies do take a while) - he'll make mistakes - that's inevitable - but am sure all will go well - it does take time (usually much longer than days or even weeks). Your vet may have info on house training him which might help would hold off w/ a trainer unless after a while, you feel he's just not 'getting it' (which will prob. be unlikely)

Males tend to have the need to mark & relieve themselves in several spots before their bladder is empty.
