SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - A Spanish Springs woman who went to a California dog pound looking for pet to replace her own dog that was hit by a car admits she went overboard when she brought home 27 dogs that were facing euthanasia. But she didn't expect to run afoul of the law.
Yes it's nice that the dogs were saved but isn't it strange that the shelter would release all those dogs to her? That's a lot of dogs for one person to properly take care of.IMHO

Sounds to me like they were about to be taken care of by the pound, permanently. I'm impressed that she was able to find homes for 23 of the 27 dogs so quickly.
Wow. I feel better about my own collection of dogs... next week I have to pick up my terrier with the five puppies. I haven't told my boyfriend yet. Her foster is having a family crisis and can't keep her any longer. And the rescue doesn't have any other place to keep her. Fortunately, I've read all my city's regulations on dogs and there's nothing that says I can't have 4 dogs and five puppies. Finding homes for the puppies when they are weaned shouldn't be difficult, but of course I will have to make sure they are going to good homes.
I thought this might be a hoarder... I guess the pound figured they'd do better with her than being euthanized, or else they knew her and knew it would be OK. Even pounds aren't looking to make bad placements or, more to the point, situations where the animal will be abused (lab saless, dog fighting bait) or re-released to the streets.
