After trying several different brands of dog food, we're looking to switch to yet another brand. We're currently feeding our two Malamutes Nature's Logic, but we've always had problems with severe gas with both dogs and intermittent diarrhea with the female. Usually twice a month she'll come down with diarrhea that can last for several days and usually leads to an accident in the middle of the night. She's been checked by the vet and they never find anything, so we're thinking maybe it's the food. Anyway, long story short, we're looking for recommendations on a new brand of food. Any thoughts on Taste of the Wild? Any other recommendations?

We know she clearly has a sensitive stomach, so it may not matter what brand of food she's on. But, we'd obviously like to try and see if we can fix this problem. We do also have them on a probiotic daily.

Chicken formulas have always made the gas worse, so chicken based food is out. They've been on Great Life and Timberwolf in the past.

Thanks everyone! Any and all thoughts are welcome!

We have a 16 year old terrier mix - male.

He has been eating Nature's Recipe - Vegetarian Formula - for nearly 3 1/2 years.

He is very regular, does not have gas and likes his food.

I suggest you try green tripe. Tripett is the brand I use. Green tripe has a way of helping canine digestive systems. Dogs love it, but oh the smell. My dog eats mainly Flint River and I give him one or two cans of Tripett a month just to keep his stomach happy.

Good luck,
Don

We feed Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream and it's wonderful for our English Bulldog. He too has a sensitivity to chicken, and after much trial and error, we found the perfect food. This is a fish based formula, so it's perfect for dogs with any kind of food sensitivites. I couldn't recommend this food enough. You can get sample packets that are pretty big at most retailers that carry this food, so you can try it before you make the switch.

Orijen may be a good choice, I've had no problems 70% protein, I needed more protein and less carbs for my dog.

Thanks everyone. You're right, there are so many choices today! Based on the recommendations so far, it sounds like more trial and error! Hopefully we'll solve this eventually.

There is no dog food out there with 70% protein! Even cat food, which is higher in protein than dog food, does not go that high! Orijen is one of the highest protein food for dogs, but still only 42% protein. Not sure where you got 70% from?

Thinking we had allergies, we switched to Natural Balance fish and potato allergy food. There are no fillers, corn, chicken wheat, etc in it. She likes it. How do you know when dog has gas???
