anyone with a Chihuahua or really any dog that eats bugs?
Mine gets so intent on chasing them down to eat them that she forgets to do her duty while outside.
She has cleaned out all the outside spiders that were here when we moved into the house a few months back. She's ruthless with her search and kill antics.
I'm fine with her doing so and don't feel it will hurt her; just wondered if it's the breed or just her.........

One of my dogs hates flies and will stop at nothing til they are dead! I don't think it has anything to do with the breed. Its just her personality,

Be careful of spider eating...depending on where you live spiders could be dangerous.
Take care....

My cats (one in particular) will eat flies, mosquitoes and spiders if they can be caught. Just some extra protein for them.

It's a dog thing, not a chihuahua thing. Both of my dogs chase and catch flies. One is a labrador and the other is a beagle/basset mix.

My shar-pei will just stand still in the back yard and when a lightening bug comes by she just opens her mouth and chomps it without ever moving. It was the funniest thing I ever saw the first time I saw her do it.

My young beagle is a fly catching expert and has a look of victory when she enjoys her snack. Not to mention the cats all go after bugs and seem to consider the summer flies there just for them. The dog is a better catcher. My older dog used to catch them though not with such intent as the new one.

Here we have some really odd bugs so I do note what they are hunting. I rescued the tratuntula that got in from the cat too.

Has your little dog every challenged those flying and jumpimg green bugs with the loud trilling sounds that provided a whole evenings entertainment for both dog and cat one night? The bug got to the door and I let it escape and they were all very dissapointed but I didn't want to see if it would make them throw up.

funny stories......love it! Yea, mine is pretty funny with her intensity for catching & eating the bugs. My daughter's cat will chase the flying ones but seldom eats them. And my Malti-poo couldn't care less.
The peek-a-poo I had for 16 years was so scared of bugs that she would see one and run hide. Which is why I'm so amused that the chihauhua exerts so much time and energy to chase them or dig them out from dirt or rocks then eats them. We have a LOT fewer bugs then we did initially.

My 3 chihuahuas love to chase flies. But we have to watch that they don't also chase bees as a bee sting can be bad in the mouth or throat. We don't encourage it, as they don't know the difference between non stinging flies and bees or wasps.
