I affixed an aluminum roof to our dog house and now he seems scared to go inside. The rascal was chewing up the cedar roof, so I covered it with diamond aluminum sheets. He now has a better roof than what most regular houses have, by the way.
Treats, favorite toys...If it were me, I'd go sit in it myself and call him in. Lots of love and attention given in the dog house so he equates good things with the new digs. If it's too small for you to crawl in....treats and toys go in...don't force him in...you'll do more harm than good that way!
He may be afraid of the noise the alum. makes....Does it creak or cause a echo, or rain must cause make it loud in there? Just sort of thinking out loud here.

No. The material is thick and doesn't move with the elements. Thanks, anyways.
Could you possibly think that the dog stays outside when they are at work and then come inside when they get home and to sleep at night? Hmm guess not.

When we leave the house, even if it's for an hour, our dog stays inside. Leaving a dog outside, unsupervised is irresponsible. Dogs are pack animals and they enjoy being part of the family. When you leave them outside, a number of things can go wrong. They can eat something they're not supposed to, they might bark or dig from boredom, another animal can get in and injure your pet, etc. Not a risk worth taking, imo.
