Maybe the 3-yeard-old tired and cranky child should have had a nap. Just saying.

Well, maybe it is the business heart of Duluth, but I also think that Canal Park is the heart of Duluth. I am guessing that many people think this. It just has so much more to offer. When I worked downtown I walked a lot on my lunch breaks downtown, but when I was in Duluth during my free time I usually spent it in Canal Park, Park Point, or on the hill.

Maybe the speed limits are slower in Duluth than in the Twin Cities because everything isn't so spread out here. We don't need to get on a highway and go 60+ miles an hour to get everywhere.

Isn't the point of travelling to experience something different than your hometown? Complaining about the location/number of Jimmy John's or the speed limit on certain roads seems a little ridiculous. I mean, London Road has a lot of businesses with cars exiting directly onto the road as well as people's houses. How fast would you expect the speed limit to be?

I am also sure that an Erbert's and Gerbert's or a Subway would work fine for the three year old or maybe a sandwich from an independent deli/grocery. I was in the Duluth downtown skyway system downtown in 2005 while visiting after walking around Canal Park and actually thought there were too many sandwich places and should be more variety. That may have changed over the last eight years.

In Canal Park I had an excellent club sandwich at Old Chicago for lunch. It is not that difficult to find a good sandwich in Duluth. My town does not have a Jimmy John's, but we do have Chipotle (reverse of Duluth). I agree some of the roads as I accidentally got on a particularly rough one there in the evening (can't remember the name).

Wife and I visited Duluth recently; my idea as I wanted to see the ships, ore trains as that sort of thing is a passion of mine (big things that move).

We enjoyed the Aquarium where the people were so friendly. Drove around town a bit, out Minnesota Ave to the airport and up North Shore Drive along the coastline for a few miles. Ate at Grandma's downtown by the lift bridge. Drove up Lake Ave for the view; loved that marvelous old building at Lake and 2nd.

I've wanted to see Duluth since reading the book "Cold Comfort: Life at the Top of the Map" about that area of the country. The book was a gift from a person from Duluth that I helped here on line in her move to Colorado Springs several years ago.
