I think it's 'recession over' for the big companies doing business around the globe, manipulating/influencing the gov't in their favor. For the rest of us, it's not over because it's not 'our' government...

Inflation and Deflation at the Same Time

On the deflationary side we have the sub-prime fiasco which is reducing liquidity for banks and causing housing prices to fall.

So there you have it, rising food and energy prices and falling housing prices... inflation and deflation at the same time..."

There was someone (don't recall their name) that was talking about this concept on CNBC in the last week. They had a name for it as well. The argument they made was plausible in my view but I have not seen enough information to have a really informed opinion on it. Very interesting though. Good Post.

Bascailly the ntion is out of recession but there is liitle real growth and like always after a recession its not eqaul across the nation. Its took 20 eyars for some areas to get back to near normal after the 70's recessio that effected the inductrty and jobs in many. Some where never even affected by teh bubble in tech and housing in their decline;it just slowed things really.

It's funny how the media focuses on "recession" or "depression" (I guess to simplify things in the mind of the viewing public). But these words are a very stealth red herring to whats really going on.

Working seniors outnumber teens in labor force - SFGate

Look at that chart since about the middle 80's. Have we really had much "growth" or prosperity since then? It makes you wonder. If we're so prosperous, growing at 3-4% a year GDP growth, 3% inflation, the FED skillfully guiding the economy.....blah, blah, blah....(talking points, propaganda from tv and the media), then why are seniors having to work so much?

That number held steady from the late 40's to the late 80's. Then *Magically* it starts going up?

Why has teen labor stalled for 40 years!!, if we just keep growing every year, adding jobs...yah, yah? The two don't add up. And ol' Ben "Helicopter, quantitative easing" Bernanke isn't going to solve it with a few presses of a computer key.
