I'm always amused when people think that others should essentially be like them, or that there is a particular way of being that leads to success. I don't know, you guys must have really sheltered lives. Out of all the extremely intelligent, successful, etc people I've known there is no common personality traits. Some of them have been extremely theoretical with their "head in the clouds", some have been very practical, some have been very social, some have been socially inept, etc etc. No commonality at all except that they all build on what they are good at.
There are many places in this world for "theoretical people", there are many places for "practical people", etc.
"Book learning" is no different than any other form of learning, whether information is past down orally, from books, etc its all the same. Without our "book learning" we are nothing but chimps.
