In the past 2 months I have caught 2 different virus protection companies
doing an auto renew without permission &charging my credit card.

Webroot & Trend

The one I talked to today agreed to remove but was very evasive about my insistence that they remove all my account information from their files.
I have not used their product since 2007... and I checked my charges and they have never done an auto renew...
They said I would get an email before any renewing...
"no ..you don't understand ...I want you to delete all my information from your company"

Watch your transaction reports for these "auto renew" charges.

Did you know that you can have your credit card company change your account number? I realize that it may be a hassle if you do a lot of on-line shopping and have your info "saved" with these companies. but every once in a while, it's good to "clean house" and sweep out all these leeches that hang onto your account number, just to sneak in a charge you don't know about.

Maybe the surprise could be on THEIR end, next time!

Usually companies like Norton will send you emails saying they are going to charge your card.
In my case , I had changed my card number and they sent me an email saying they could not auto-renew because my card had expired. I ended up going to the tech store and buying my own Norton AV . I like it better that way
