I don't really think greed is an emotion. Greed actually comes about because of fear. People are afraid of not having enough, so they get greedy because they think it will make the fear go away. It doesn't necessarily do that, but we all tend to think it will.
I wish I could give you 10 reps. The truth is life is not fair and the belief that people who happen to be successful have some "secret" that they can impart to the rest of us is a fallacy. There are tons who work hard, plan etc and still end up at the bottom of the barrel.
While this is true, it's still the exception and not the rule. It's been shown over and over again that those who have goals in life and those who plan their careers, what they will do with their money, etc, do much better in life than those who don't. Sure, maybe 1 in 10 do all the right things and fail....but those are still pretty good odds.
I suppose they'd have a grand time with a burger flipper: You need to become more liquid.
People who spend their whole lives as burger flippers usually have other issues going on, such as:
--They're just not very smart (probably not the problem for most).
--They do unhealthy things like use drugs or alcohol
--They have emotional problems/fears that they don't want to address.
--They don't know how to get along with other people (due to emotional problems already mentioned).
I don't really think greed is an emotion. Greed actually comes about because of fear. People are afraid of not having enough, so they get greedy because they think it will make the fear go away. It doesn't necessarily do that, but we all tend to think it will.
So it all boils down to just one emotion---FEAR.
That is very perceptive.
The next step then, the antidote, is to analyze what you fear, and why you fear it.
The rich and powerful, who really run what we were told was a democracy, are very proficient at creating fear. You were told that owning your own home is the American dream, and now you are made to fear that you will lose it. You were told that your children are the future, and now you fear what will happen to them and what kind of a world they will live in. You were told that Muslims will come and force you to wear burqas and pray to Allan. Think about that for a minute. You were told that the Old Testament God will gleefully fry you in Hell if you fail to kiss His butt with the appropriate trappings of pageantry.
Refuse to live your life in constant fear, and then set out to rearrange it so that the things that are meaningful to you can't be threatened, because they lie beyond the boundaries of fear.
hey this is a really great article, thanks for posting!
