Distributed solar power on rooftops wont put utilities out of business. It simply makes them more efficient and able to support a larger population without having to build more plants. Not to mention that production is distributed so it's a much harder thing to disrupt you can't simply disrupt the power plant and take out a whole cities power since maybe one quarter of the city has solar on their roof someday in the future.

Besides the faqct that if that happened storage would make cost rise alot. its not easy storig and most depend on sellig to utiliy comnay any excess and the using it back. its not a even game and once their were no ultility companies there would be no tax bareak either plus added fee bow paifd by untilties comanies on sales. its like lowerig gas usage we still have to pay for the highways used ;so funding as to come from somewhere.Usage feee such a tolls are incraingly happenig just to fund new much less older maintainace.
