No, I realized I over-reached. We call that being apologetic. Facts haven't changed, though.
So, QC, what are YOUR views on 1st, 2nd and 3rd cities? Do you have one? C'mon, you used to live in Rhode Island, many moons ago - prior to retiring. What's your take?
RI isn't even a 3rd tier state. But it is 2nd in highest cost of living. VT retains the distinction of being #1 in COL and #1 in the most liberal state. See any correlation there sweetie?
And what changed with you Alfie? You've always been so proud that you telecommute for your job. All of a sudden you're riding the rails to Boston? San Fran is more your style, such a beautiful city with the nice trolleys, the scenery of the bay, and the night life must be awesome. Don't know why you even bother with low tier RI. Go west young man, go west.

Look, what's lost in this "conversation" is my original point: Atlanta, by any measure, is not a first-tier city. Why you find this disturbing, even enraging, is beyond my understanding.
In re-reading my post, I admit I was harsh, and I didn't mean to offend, I honestly didn't, and I apologize if I offended folks. But the facts, they cannot be disputed.
Hummmm....a city of over a million people, which hosted the Olympics....is NOT in your mind, first-tier?

I personally would not consider ANYWHERE in RI to be first-tier...perhaps maybe bedroom community to first-tier cities like Boston. No offense intended, but, when I think "first-tier" Rhode Island doe not exactly leap to my mind...any more than Delaware would...even though Wilmington would be a large town in close proximity to a first-tier city, Philadelphia.
And don't worry about it...the place I live I would not even consider FIFTH-tier, if such a place exists. I think the nearest traffic light to my house is six miles away.

No, I never said RI is first tier -- not even close, not even within a mile. Some other poster said something about that, not me. It's a good place to live, and would be even better if it didn't have 9.1% unemployment. But even if it had 0% UE, it wouldn't rank above 2nd or 3rd tier.
Is Philly a 1st tier city? I think so, but there's room for conversation on that.
