Small businesses optimism shot up following Trump's victory. Small and medium businesses create most of the new jobs in our economy, so their confidence is vital to our economic health. When they are borrowing more money for investment and expansion, it means more jobs, more demand for services, more business for banks, and more taxes flowing to government coffers.
Small banks do a lot of the lending to small businesses, so without this vital link, our economy is limping along, sputtering. No one hears small businesses as they die. We only hear about the big ones. This was Obama's great mistake, his utter lack of sympathy for business. Now we have not only a real businessman as leader, but a unified Republican government at both the federal and state levels (where the majority of state legislatures now have GOP majorities).
Now, finally, we can look forward to some real economic growth and hiring expansion. This is just the beginning, kids.
Dodd and Frank is designed for big banks to stay in business. They are the ones who can afford regulations. Repeal the Dodd/Frank and re-instate the Glass Steagall. But I doubt that's going to happen with so many ex-Golman Sachs people on Trump administration.

Trump trashed Dodd-Frank in every campaign speech. He's not likely to reverse himself now.
No reason for reversal to be any more or less likely than staying the course. The man just says whatever he thinks you want to hear at the time. It's P.T. Barnum all over again.

How about we stick to economics? This is the economics forum and I'm not interested in hijacking this into partisan politics.
They are going through the motions so they can tell the government they did their best but "couldn't" find qualified applicants. They have to first pick up every CS graduate in the country before they are allowed to import a single H1B. The notion that someone in Banglore who has not lived in this country for a minute is more qualified than the graduates of American universities is laughable.
With the GOP in power, I expect the allotment of H1B visa holders to increase. The GOP always wants to increase these numbers. Trump already said he supports the H1B program.
