I was impacted by the salt limitations in a red state so don’t go overboard with your political slant. Do you also take issue with other deduction or credits like children, student loan interest, mortgage interest etc?

Many of those blue states, possibly your own, pay more to the federal government than they get back. Many red states, Mitch McConnell's Kentucky for one, takes much more from the federal government than they pay in.
