Last week, my husband got a notice in the mail that one of his credit cards were cancelled due to inactivity, they didn't even offer a choice to use it. Today, I got one from a credit card that I've had for 20 years. If I don't use it by November 30, it's gone. It had a zero balance also.
I understand why...but now they are demanding that we charge things to keep their business....isn't that kind of the opposite of what we're supposed to be doing? So if one has a credit card for business travel purposes and uses it only during those times, the credit card is going to lose money and one will have to find another means to charge airline tickets, etc. Don't feel comfortable using debit cards for this type of thing. Blech.

I take great pleasure in being what the CC companies call a deadbeat - someone who pays their bills in full and on time.
I use them constantly in order to track expenses and to get the reward points.
Maybe you could do the same? Or charge a $5 item once every 3 months. A pain I know, but you'll have them if necessary.
1. I can't be partly blamed when credit cards become points of anger due to defaulters.
2. Its a state of independent living, that I so don't accept, in the current atmosphere especially.
3. I can't afford to have one anyway.
I KNOW THAT I CAN'T AFFORD ONE AND THAT THE MONEY ISN'T FREE. I'M NOT A SUCKER TO BE MILKED DRY. THOSE WHO CALL THEMSELVES ADULTS WHO ARE IN WAY OVER THEIR HEADS WITH DEBTS BECAUSE OF CARDS, TAKE A LESSON FROM ME: A DISABLED 26 YEAR OLD FROM THE UK WHO HAS NEVER WORKED FOR A LIVING. I'M A BENEFIT BOY.
The card companies love those who don't pay on time more as they can then charge interest.
That has nothing to do with this thread. I didn't say anything about not paying on time and neither did anyone else. If you don't have a credit card, how do you rent a car, or buy something on-line, or buy airline tickets?
Grannynancy, yes, the credit rating stuff is what really angers me...my credit score is pretty high.
Lastinshow, I guess that's what I'll have to do. What a pain!!!! Yet another bill to pay every month. Double Blech!
No, and if that was your idea of a joke, it was in very poor taste. I asked because I wonder who else but a minor would post that they would use their mother's debit card. Sounds VERY odd.
