Agree with HappyTexan. The attitude of society has changed from the olden days when the teacher slapped palms with a ruler and the biggest problem was Bobby dipping Susie's pigtails in the inkwell. Some of these changes aren't for the better, but I think some of the protections in place have been added for a reason. Now you've got Thomas bringing a gun to school, Mary is sharing pot in the girl's bathroom... there are a host of more complex problems.
