I am considering getting a law degree. The idea of doing criminal law and working trials is not appealing to me. I've researched a little bit about the different careers you can get into. I like the idea of working in the entertainment industry as an agent (either sports or entertainment). Does anyone have experience or knowledge of getting into these fields? Also what about any other similar fields are there? I'm told that you can't go wrong with a Juris Doctor or have a hard time finding work. Can I go into a specific type of law such as entertainment or sports?

First, yes, you can go into a specific type of law. I can tell you that things like sports or entertainment are pretty specific (and popular) so you would need to go to a school that excels in these areas and make sure you are at the top of the class.
As for having a hard time find work with a JD, you actually can have a very hard time, especially if you don't graduate at the top 5-10% of your class. My boyfriend went to a great law school and it took him (and his friends) well over 8 months to find a job. After two years of experience, you should be able to switch jobs easily, but it took most of my friends over 1 year to even find a position to switch to (again, they all did well at a good school and had years of experience). The problem is that there are honestly just way too many lawyers. Now, if you are really interested in it, go for it. Do well on the LSATs, go to a good school, graduate in the top 5-10% and you'll be completely fine; however, if you are just going for job security, this is not the most secure field anymore.
Just my 2 cents.

You can put out your own shingle or partner up and make a small firm. I wish I would have finished law school. I regret I did not.

Also just because you get a law degree does not mean you have to be a lawyer or even take the bar exam. There are many managerial positions that would be open to you with a JD.
