or... go to one of the many international colleges that are FREE to USA students (and others).
or... attend one of the free USA colleges (which I made it a point to tour and interview students last yr)
Covid or not... I am NOT for "SAVING" USA higher education in it's current state.
1) I and others are expected to hire the output (which is often very pathetic).
2) I contribute over $20k / yr to USA schools via property taxes, and have for many, many yrs. The results of my investment(?) is very sad.
3) USA society has to deal with what we (USA) are imposing on students. (poor education) - = scary
Forbes shows that in 2016 China turned out more STEM graduates than the US by a far number.
China: 4,700,000
India: 2,600,000
US: 568,000
In addition most graduate students in US universities are from other countries.
If the US is to remain an economic and technological power, it is imperative we graduate more people in STEM. So as a matter of national security, we should make college free (or very low cost) for those students who pursue STEM degrees. It's not a question of whether we can afford it; we can't afford not to.
In some countries a college education is free for those with the aptitude; it's not free for everyone.
Those without the aptitude can go to college but they must pay for it themselves.
"Free" means a lot less people will be going to college.
Which is ideal. Most people don't complete college as it is.
