Anyone know anything about this? Googling hasn't turned up anything as yet, seems to be all about college.....hoping for a grant for technical course(s) as I'm unemployed and have time (and would think I'm qualified!).

go to the tech. school you are interested in and find out what type of financial aid they offer. But do your research, there are propietary schools out there that are tech. schools and cost you an arm and a leg and your degree is worth nothing. Make sure it is a demand occupation. Ask to talk to recent graduates. By the way, what are you thinking of studying?

Default So true...

Pupmom, is exactly right. Please, Please, ask plenty of questions before you step into any college. I experienced this two years ago, because I have a two year Network Degree, had the top grades, etc. But here it is, two years later and I am not doing anything in networking. But please don't take this as a discouragement not to go to some college. Just make sure, you are talking to the right people and asking the right questions(plenty). If I had it to do all over again, I would have definitely went the cheap route. I attended Devry and they ate up the rest of my Financial Aid. So I can't even go to college to finish up for a Bachelor's or Masters. With this economy, the Devry kept raising the prices and it is higher to go online. So I wish you the best of luck on your en devours.

Thx but as I say, not looking at college - or even a "school." Talking specific courses for specific certifications.

Appears fed govt grants are out

It all depends what school and what courses. Let me give you a for instance. A local college is offereing a certificate in oil and gas accounting clerk. You get your cert. in oil gas acct clerk, but it also counts as 30 credits towards an assoc. degree. This way you can get financial aid. Again, you need to go to an accredited school and ask what financial aid they have available. I can't stress enough, do not fall into the trap of proprietary schools. Good luck!
