Hey all.......my wife and I are buying property out the El Paso way.....was wondering what the border town in Mexico is like? Years ago, when in Southern California, I went to Tijuana, and man, well, I'm not even going to go there in conversation.....hahaha.

Seriously though, drive/walk across to shop? Nice? Safe? I'll gladly soak up any info I can get to make sure my wife and I stay safe.....

THANKS!!!!

kevin

No, do not drive or walk across to shop or do anything else. The most I do is walk across the border and right back so I can buy the huge bottles of Absolut vodka cheap. I am paranoid that I am going to be shot the entire time I am doing it. Plus, you need a passport (or passport card) now. Juarez is simply too dangerous to venture over to see.

bree~ no you don't, you think about walking over and buying booze cheep, because we know that by going over to Mexico you are breaking military law, that could result in UCMJ action. I never saw this post.

This is a troll, right?

Otherwise how has it managed to escape your notice that Juarez is now considered the most violent/dangerous city on the planet???

Whatever money can be saved by going to Juarez isn't worth it. You would be safer in Afghanistan right now.

6 months ago I would have said it was probably okay to go over there in the day time and stick strictly with the tourist areas but I would not say that any more. It's not just cartels killing each other now, the carjackings and general street violence are way out of control.

Think of it this way - when you're in El Paso, there's no need to go to Mexico.

Because we have a lot of the positives but very little of the negatives (i.e violence). Obviously El Paso is an American city and not the same as being in Mexico.
