OK, we have the Positive Thread, where people have blown so much smoke up the rear ends of the population, we need a thread to balance it out. SO people Post why you hate El Paso here. All I ask is that you be honest, and follow the TOS of City Data.

[edit by Moderator Bowie]

I just want to caution that this should not be considered the ONLY place in the El Paso forum where people are permitted to post negative opinions. Carry on.

I have let the people have their say, even when I don't agree with them in the I LOVE EL PASO THREAD, I have not argued with their view in there. Please show me the same respect and leave this thread for those to post the Negative side of El Paso and why they hate the place.

Although I left ELP in 2001 due to job opportunities I was ready to leave. I was starting a new career and I was presented with a shot to advance. I am in a small rare group of former residents that would actually like to go back to ELP. I miss it...it's my home.

What I dont understand is this. If somebody HATES ELP with a passion...why stay?

While I do not love EP, I do not HATE it either. I find that I like to go back and visit my mom and friends but I would not want to move back. I guess it's fine as long as I am only there for short visits from time to time, it's good to kind of decompress from the normal stress since EP does have a very laid back attitude.

1) I hate self-loathing El Pasoans.

That's it.

People that hate to see another prosper and get ahead in life. I have experienced this in my family and so-called friends in ELP.

People that feel guilty for getting ahead and feel bad that others in their family or friends that arent (if this makes sense). I have had friends and family in ELP self sabotage their careers or achievements due to some weird guilt...true I have seen that alot.

My friends and famliy in ELP are....People that borrow something and never return it. People that are always late (party starts at 3pm but show up at 5pm). People that say that they are gonna do something for you but never do it.

Who knows why people stay. Maybe they left, but had to come back for sick family members or just to be near family because they are sick. Maybe they're too old to move. I believe STAN4, the shopping sucks, the freeways suck(let's not forget about the drivers!). El Paso wants to boast about being a metroplex,PLEASE! The outlet shops are lame. What can our kids do? Western Playland? Wet n Wild? Please stop me when someone other than the rodeo or Santana come to actually fill up Cohen Stadium. There are good things, however, I don't think they outweigh the bad.

Fair enough. Since the other thread had so many posts, I posted my note in the OP. To make it all perfectly balanced, I'll go ahead and move my note to this thread's OP, too.
