Hey yall,
I was just wondering if anyone can share their experience of living in the county just east of El Paso County.

Could you give any details about the pace of life? The townspeople? The local sheriff? It could be anything. It doesnt matter what town.Dell City,Salt Flat,Sierra Blanca,Cornudas.etc.

Thanks.

Van Horn Tx, is the largest town but just outside of Hudspeth county., but of all the places you mentioned they are very slow and boring, very hot in the summer and not bad at all in the winter. If you like to have horses then this is the place for you. Once a long time ago ( 2010 ) Willy Nelson's tour bus was detained at the border patrol check station near Sierra Blanca, they found marijuana on the bus, A few hours later he made a deal ( $ 2.500.00 bond ) with the local Court and they let him and his entourage be on their way. The Hudspeth county Sheriff rents his jail space to other counties in the area. In my experience, the people were all very nice.
Sierra Blanca had a Horse motel the last time I was there. All the towns have old buildings where someone tried to start a cafe, or hardware store, or moved away and the building sits empty. it takes about 45 mins to get from Sierra Blanca to Cornudas on a two-lane paved road The little restaurant in Cornudas has changed owners over the years, opened and closed but is a nice place to hang out. Salt Flat consists of three buildings I think, never stopped there.
Dell City is a great place to have horses and 2 hours north are the Sacramento mountains of NM if you like hunting. There is a Town called weed just inside the NM in the mountains, not sure why it has that name .it is at 7000 ft, a nice place to own a cabin.
Lots of gravel roads in Hudspeth, but my four-wheel drive F -250 never got stuck. If the puddle was more than three or four truck lengths I would get a good running start and hope for the best.
The sky is big and wide and you can see for miles. There are no trees.
