I'm looking for a great off post pediatrician that takes tricare prime. There is a long list of doctors on the tircare website, but I'd love to have a personal recommendation (or warning about who to stay away from).

We are moving to El Paso next week from Ft. Benning Ga. We'll be living in Horizon, but I'd be more than happy to drive across town to take my child to a better doctor (does it really take that long to drive across town anyway?). We'd like to find a doctor that speaks English and is generally able to see patients same day for sick-child appointments.

Any feedback would be greatly appriciated.

right now we go to southwest urgent care.
they are good and fast(much better then base)
my friend is a nurse and she is finding me a good pediatrician off post, she gave me his name but I can not think of it.

As for Horizon, it is nice and they may have good DR. out there, we live on post so that we a close to everything.

Dr. Casillas from the Pediatric group, the office is off of N. El Paso ST.

I have not been to him yet but this is who my friend uses and she swears by him.
she has been here 5years now due to the army and she knows her way around good.

Dr Liptakovia at Physicians Healthcare In NE is FANTASTIC! My son has Tricare Prime and she has been his doctor for 10 years. Dr. Bowen at Physicians Healthcare on the West side on Remcon is great too. He is my back-up when Dr. Liptakovia is unavailable. And since they are associated, the records are in the system so both doctors can see them. I can't imagine using anyone else for my kids.

Default Family Practice

Everyone,
Try Dr. Hector Lopez at 1400 George Dieter Suite 110 or 9955 Dyer. Both Locations are very helpful with lab and good service.

I highly recommend the pediatric department at Texas Tech. Both of my kids were high risk preemies that involved lots of care, and the team at Texas Tech are fantastic, personable, highly competent, and a pleasure to work with. We're military so they should accept Tricare.

My son and daughter have been with Dr. Mendoza-Castillo on Trawood for two years and we are very satisfied with the level of care provided. My son has health issues and Dr. Mendoza has been very aggressive and thorough with his treatment.

You are not allowed to go to any Dr. in the city but when you go to wbmc go to the tri-care dept. and ask for a list of drs that take tri-care and those are the drs. you can go see in the city.
there are like 2 pages to choose from.
and there is tell a nurse who can tell you where you can go off post also.
