Also, something not in the u-verse price quote is the monthly fee for STB's (set top boxes). You have to pay $7 a month for every TV you want to have service. For me, it would be five TVs. So on top of the quote, you would be paying $35 every month for the STB's.

Maybe they offer more up front.

But did you not read what I said earlier? they will raise their rate multiple times a year. So not worth it for me.

Yes I read it. I thought the price was too much to begin with but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe...just maybe...they have something amazing that was worth all the dough. I'm sticking with my service.

mistabinks- 5 tvs? Damn!

Sorry...I was talking about AT&T raising prices.

I would live to have 5 TVs w/ service but I could live with three. Right now, with Dish, I have 4 TVs w/ service and one with an antenna.

TWC and Comcast are the same way. They don't get them donated, they actually pay for them and the small fee for them is nothing. Plus you can bring it in and exchange it for a better one when one comes out.

The thing with TWC, and probably Comcast, was that I was paying $8 a month for every cable box plus another $8 a month for every TV with DVR service. That was almost $50 a month besides the service plans.

With Dish Network, two TVs can share one DVR. On my bill there is no charge at all for that, just the service plan. I then pay $7 a month each for the two extra receivers I have. I am not paying for the first DVR receiver that services two TVs. Much better in my opinion.

If you don't need the the NFL Direct TV package where you get all of the games, I highly suggest ATT U-Verse. We've had it for well over a year and it was NEVER out. There was also no contract, it's month-to-month with 150 channels.

I recently had to disconnect because we cannot justify the expense now that I'm unemployed. Besides, I spend more time on the Internet than just about anything. I do miss my History Channel though.

Seeing on the cost of plans though, I'm getting a hell of a deal through Direct. Even after the year promotion it's still cheaper than what I saw with U-verse. Maybe if you bundle it works out better though. Right now I'm getting over 150 channels with local, including NFL Network cuz I have to have my football , for 24.99 a month (28.00 if you included taxes). It would have been 19.99 but I'm paying 4.99 for an additional receiver. But who knows? Maybe after my 18 months are up, U-verse will be available in my neighborhood and more info will be available. But for the moment......the kids and I are LOVING our channels.
