Many companies here in Houston have various work hour programs, the majority being 9/80, but also 4/10. The City of El Paso started a pilot program, and I am just wondering how it is working.

El Paso has always been laid back, so I'm wondering how people working 10 hours a day are doing, and do they like having the extra day off?

El Pasoans already work longer hours then elsewhere. I was used to 9 to 5 office jobs but many in EP are 8 to 5. I applied at one local real estate management company that wanted 8-5:30. Maquilla office workers also put in long days - in the late 80's my wife used to work 7:30-5:30 M-Th and 7:30-4 on Fridays.

I believe the 4 day week is a budget measure that only affects City of El Paso office employees.

Many City departments had offered 4/10 long before the current economic crisis. The only difference was the department was still open 5 days away. Now all the employess work the same four days instead of being staggered to cover 5 days.

You're talking city workers correct? I don't work for the city but I do work in El Paso and work 4/12's which is pretty much a standard in my line of work.
