Having saved up some more cash, I am thinking about expanding my land holdings in Hudspeth County by buying adjoining parcels. However, since this will involve a lot of negotiation and research I am thinking about contacting a Land Broker who could do this on my behalf (though obviously I would pay him/her a fee for doing this).

Cab anyone recommend a honest, cheap and reasonably efficient land broker who covers Hudspeth county?

Mmm...Well, I Googled "realtors Hudspeth County Texas" and got this. Maybe one of the companies shown on the Google map I linked to can help you.

Fair enough, but I'm looking for people who are generally regarded as honest and whose primary expertise is desert land - neither of which are immediately apparent from a google search.

It sounds like you are searching for a "buyer's agent." If it were me, I would try contacting a real estate office in El Paso that is affiliated with one of the national companies. There are many reputable brokers who operate independently, but I would just be more comfortable with someone who has to meet certain criteria to be affiliated with a company like Century 21. A random search of properties in the Sierra Blanca area turned up one such office in El Paso: RE/MAX Associates at (915) 594-3034. I'm sure there are others in El Paso that have handled transactions in that area. As far as finding a "cheap" agent, the seller pays the commission (which would be split between his agent and yours if a deal is struck). You shouldn't have to pay for an agent's services.

By "cheap" I mean an agent who specialises in finding low cost acreage - $100/200 ac not $1,000/$2,000 ac.

DITTO! I am also interested in aquiring parcels around our original 11 acres, and I also do not want to be taken to the bank on the deal.

My interest isn't so much that I want to be a land barron (although that would be nice) but I really can't find my land (I THINK I walked on it once)...easier access to my lots would be great...negotiating new roads over someone elses land, building them and maintaining them seems to be an issue at this point that I was not prepared for.

So yes, more land connected with the main road is the goal and $100.00 an acre is a good price for this!

And if they could throw in a 4X4 with the deal, that would be great too...mine has a blown engine!

I also have to say that one of my pet peeves is that I'm constantly told, here and elsewhere, that "Hudspeth county land is worthless junk...it's worth $100/ac at most", but the few land brokers that I've been able to find are quoting 10 times that. I know comprable Ebay sales are $100-200/ac but I'm interested in buying adjacent land rather than random parcels. I emailed the El Paso Chamber of Commerce but I haven't got a reply.

Post Land for sale

I too would love to be a Land Baron but, like most of us that doesn't seem possible. I was one of those ppl that purchased my land VIA the internet 10 years ago, from a gentleman named Scott Wiggins. I have since learned that he was in the Realestate business and sold quite a lot of it. I have a friend where I live In Florida (Pensacola) that works for Century 21 here at home. she says the property value has actually Increased a little since my purchase. Not enough to brag about, but a little. i don't even know how to find my property on the map now. When It was for sale it had all kinds of pics now I can't find It on Mapquest. if I remember right It's down around a place called Big Bear? Does that sound like a familiar place to anyone. I've put in my Legal Disciption and ID number and still doing something wrong. Anyway, I'm looking to sell my 10.30 acres for a fair price. I purchased a corner parcel so I ended up a little over. Anyway, if anyone can help out I would appreciate It. thanks
