Is there a gay community/gay-borhood in El Paso?
Are the people generally very homophobic and prejudiced or more easy going about gays?

Thanks.

Be prepared to be bombarded with links and quotes from a Chicos Tacos security guard incident with a gay couple. Much do about nothing.

Nobody really cares if you are gay or not here. There are a number of gay clubs around town but there really isn't a need for a gay neighborhood or a gay bar. Gay people can easily assimilate into any area of town and any bar. Now a gay couple, going out of their way to get attention, just like any demographic who is flaming, will probably get negative attention.

nope, there's a fairly big gay population in El Paso, and no one seems to care unless you are outspokenly gay and create scenes about it, just like anywhere in the country... Hell, El Paso has the oldest gay/lesbian club in the State, called the Old Plantation. Check it out.

I don't see a problem with outspoken gays.

Bombs Away!!! Here in Austin (not sure if ELP is this way) nobody cares and the gays dont try to be flamboyant in public. I will care if you do your thing in front of my children. That is all I have to say about that.

Pretty easy going about gays here from everything I've seen. I think a lot live in Sunset Heights and Kern Place, but you'll see gays everywhere here.

Last time I checked there were quite a few gay clubs downtown as well as a GLBT community center on South Ochoa between Overland and First. I don't know if they still have the annual gay pride parade on Montana. As for where gay people live, I guess they're where people live (meaning, anywhere in town).

Oh, okay. I would think the parade organizers would throw people out if they tried to dance mostly naked on the floats like they do at some gay-pride parades.

I listen to a local talk radio show in the afternoon. They promoted the parade. I can't remember where it was or any of the other details. I only remember that it took place about a month ago.
