I like his attitude about China, like the comment he made about the Chinese meeting a couple of months back - that he wouldn't have thrown them a dinner, he would have herded them into the Oval Office to talk first. The Trump portion of that equation will be the issue. And Marco Rubio will not hitch his wagon to a "birther" with a history of excessive bankruptcies and shady real estate business dealings (so much for fiscal responsibility). Marco Rubio would have way too much to lose.
In 1980, Ronald Reagan carried his own "baggage" - his former career as a Hollywood movie actor was also considered "shady", as was the fact that he had been divorced. That didn't sit well with a lot of voters, over 30 years ago. The alternative was another four years of Carter. The people chose.
