I've always consistently said he has done nothing... he is a "meh" candidate... He is supported by people who don't truly understand the issues facing this country.

How can people support a candidate when they know nothing about what he stands for?

Sure he can say he stands for things-- but those are only words. I think smart people judge candidates by their record and their actions. It is no wonder this country is going down the toilet with all these bozo's we keep electing to high office. It's like we are stuck in the middle of idiot-ville.

Yes, I'm a liberal. I think this is well known. I have also lived all over the country. Here are just a few of the reasons Perry would never beat Obama:

-Texas is in a lot of debt. How can you argue Obama's model doesn't work when yours is arguably worse?
-Perry participated in a prayer rally that appeared to be Christian only.
-Perry is afraid to debate.
-Perry has created the most jobs in the country. If he runs for president, he will be exposed as a fraud as so many of these jobs pay nothing and have no benefits.
-Perry can't tout his toughness on illegal immigration as all he does is waffle on the issue
-A lot of states that could potentially turn red in 2012 will not vote for another Texan
Perry really is a terrible debater, wish you all had seen some of the travesties of debates he has participated in here in Texas... It's going to be funny to watch him in a primary debate...

Who cares? Perry is not going to get the U.S. out of this mess. Please open your eyes and stop fawning over the latest fashionable GOP etablishment candidate. We've seen this with Trump, Cain, Palin, and now Bachmann. Is Bachmann gonna be shoved over now for Perry? Please...

Jeeez who cares he won't even make it past the primaries and sure as heck is not going to get the GOP nomination. But go ahead and enjoy your few moments in the sun, the other Repubs, Paul in particular, will send him back to Texas (unfortunately for us) with his tail between his legs.
LOL

This is how political power is distributed in Texas (in this order):
1. David Dewhurst, Lieutenant Governor
2. Texas Secretary of State
3. Texas Railroad Commission
4. Texas Senate
5. Texas House
6. Mayors
7. City Council Members
8. Me and you
9. My dog
10. Rick Perry
Exactly!

Yes...fair comparison or not, Republicans (and of course, Dems) have had their fill of 8 years of a former Texas governor as Prez. ie...You had your chance and it didn't work out so well (and thus now why we have a Tea Party movement).

It ain't gonna happen.

Perry's popularity is based solely on the mystery of whether he will run or not. Now that he has announced it, he will wither in the spotlight. People like him and Romney are the same people that have turned the Republican party into a pseudo-democratic party. Ron Paul is the only hope for true change that the Republicans can offer. Perry will be just more of the same.
