No Jon Huntsman? He is the most viable GOP candidate.

Jon Huntsman seems like a good guy, but the right wingers won't give him a chance. Despite his mormonism, he doesn't seem to be handcuffed to them like romney.

At this point, he's the only GOP candidate I would consider voting for. If they nominate somebody that's not moderate, they will lose the election. The problem is that Republicans are never satisfied with the moderate candidate.

(ring...ring)

John McCain called. He'd like to remind you that he was the Republican candidate for President last time.

I agree - not that it matters to some.

But John Huntsman would probably get my vote for the Republican nomination. I possibly/probably could vote for Huntsman over Barack Obama in the general election.

But it's still a long way to November 2012 and I reserve the right to change my vote if circumstances change.

John McCain had Sarah Palin as his running mate last time. While it's been accurately reported that she energized the Republican base to increase Republican turnout, I personally believe that she also energized the Democratic base to increase Democratic turnout and that she turned enough Independents towards the Democratic ticket to throw the election to Obama.

I'm not sure I completely agree with your analysis, but regardless, that isn't the to point to which I was commenting/responding to. We are talking about vetting for the GOP candidate now...not VP.

True that McCain was viewed as a moderate but two things killed him: 1. Obama successfully tied him to Bush and 2. He picked Palin as his running mate. Obama can't make that argument this time around and Huntsman isn't dumb enough to pick Palin for his VP.

Gary Johnson!

I'd consider Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman as well.
