i keep hearing that the conservatives want perry, but that isn't what i am seeing locally, since perry has been pretty much pro illegal immigration and was a NAFTA supporter.

romney has romneycare going against him.

they both have their negatives for the republican party, but either might be capable of beating a president presiding over a poor economic picture.

(although i am still ALL in for ron paul at this point!)

Either one of these would be very poor choices in my opinion. If the choice comes down to Ron Paul & Obama, I would vote for Obama since my vote in a solidly red state wouldn't count anyway. Perry is all talk and showboating. You can't underestimate the guy though. Americans were dumb enough to elect Bush twice. They could just as easily elect Bush 2 with Perry. Romney doesn't understand the "common folk"- I mean calling corporations "people"- ugh. Both of them demonize gays and lesbians to win votes with the religious crowd. That is morally wrong.

I definitely prefer Romney. I am not thrilled with what I have researched on Perry...his stance on immigration, NAFTA, the gardasil fiasco, the deficit in TX accumulated under his watch, his ties to Bilderberg...just to name a few. I still have to be convinced about Perry.

Both Perry & Romney are identical in the pro-illegal and NAFTA deal.
Romneycare, is the only thing that separates them.

Romney has historically taken a firmer stance on illegal immigration than Perry ever did. Romney killed the bill that would pay instate tuition for undocumented illegal immigrants...Perry signed the same "Dream Act" in Texas. Romney also has a more limited view of free trade.
