Why isn't Rick Perry doing something about this? (campaign, thought, Republican)

Rick Perry is busy on the campaign trail while the state he governs burns down! I thought Rick Perry was for the independence of states. What is he doing to help his state through this crisis?

Sixty separate wildfires, whipped by strong gusts of wind spawned by Tropical Storm Lee as it moved north, burned cross Texas on Monday, destroying hundreds of homes and leaving at least two people dead.

Not quite.

"I've seen fire, and I've seen rain," and Texas was seeing some of both on Sunday, courtesy of Tropical Storm Lee.

But unfortunately for the drought-weary state, what Texas got most was the wind: Strong, gusty winds whipping up the wildfires that have burned more than 3.5 million acres of the parched state this season.
