We shall see. In 2008 there was a large turnout, I think around 61%, which is fairly large. In 2010 we had a normal turnout. If it is a normal turnout he may have to pack his bags and go home. Large turnout probably will win.

You have to keep in mind that his will not be the only race, and the congressional approval ratings are lower than his. I think there will be a large turnout, but we shall see.

Obama only won by a few percentage points in 2008. You really think a few percentages wont switch sides or stay home?

But people dont vote for Congress, they vote for the CongressMAN. And Congressional approvals are higher now than they were in 2009, where you admit resulted in a "normal" turnout. Howd that work out for the Democrats?

McCain probably would have won if not for Palin. He would probably win if he got the nomination this time; however, that is not the case.

I can only speculate about what would happen, actually that is all any of us can do. The polls show he wins against the current crop. If there is a large turnout he probably wins, if not maybe not. So many things could happen between now and then to dictate turnout.

We hope so, that's the best thing for Republicans. Changing candidates confuses things.

This is not 2008 give it a rest?????? this is 2011 and a recession we are in, months have not turned the table around, it is only getting worse. Choose not to see this, you do not live in the real world.

Depression, high unemployment way too high, housing still sucks, what the hell value, most people are upside down on their homes, they will lose them. People are not going to be stupid this time around sorry. Those i know who voted for him, told me, be stupid once, second time, you wake up, they will not be voting for Obama. People are still out of work, come on get real will you, take a good long hard look at where we are headed. For gosh sakes my investor told me months and months ago, we are heading for a recession, maybe two, to get ready, Guess what, we still have not seen things improved, Obama owns this lock stock and barell.

And he does not know how to get us out. Oh and by the way, his cliche Hope n' Change is such a freaking joke, what a laugh.

I am out and about quite a bit, i hear people say, they have had it with Obama. That they feel, that he speaks, but nothing comes out, whatever that mean, i think they feel that he is full of it.

People are not feeling safe and secure with Obama, businessess do not want to expand, nor hire. People have no hope, and change, the little that they have, they pray for someone new to come into office, and bring us the needed change we really need, not just talk.

If you feel that we are headed on a wonderful path, your crazy, we are not, the many people i know still out of work, are going to have the bleakest Christmas ever. And the children, for the first time, no place to call home, so great change Obama.

Ugh, dude.

Will you really be happy if Obama wins again and continues presiding in the same way?

I mean, I know it's not fun to criticize Obama in front of the gnashing legion of right-wingers on this message board (and I believe that anyone the Republicans field will almost certainly be worse), but as someone who considers themselves a leftist, I have to say that Barack Obama has ushered in a new age of political cynicism for all of the people who were revved up during his campaign.

He is a neoliberal, through and through, and we're so worried about defeating the right, we're willing to ignore the fact that a large portion of the Democrats have basically become the right themselves. The comical cries of "communist" and "socialist" are more indicative of how completely crazy folks on the right have gotten, but ignoring the fringe for a moment, the establishment GOP of about 10 years ago has basically become the status quo.

The Buffett Rule and the tax the rich rhetoric right now is basically Obama saying "Hey guys, I'm still a progressive, or at least I'm the lesser of two evils," but getting him re-elected is like flipping a coin. Best case scenario, he's freed from having to worry about reelection and presides as an actual progressive. Worst case scenario, we find out that this is really all there is to him, and all the things in our country that accelerate inequality will continue.
