Best you watch what you say when you quote statistics yourself.

Verdict: some amazingly crappy numbers for the GOP. Any Repub should be light years ahead of Obama, in this state that has the largest number of registered Republicans in the US, and where McCain won by double-digits in 08. I hope Obama campaigns here next year, just to the force the GOP to campaign here as well. All in all, I still think a Republican will win Texas, but it would be hilarious if they had to spend time and money in the Lone Star State.

Cain Edges Perry in New UT/TT Poll — 2012 Presidential Election | The Texas Tribune

I'm dreamin...of a blue....Texas....

This is hilarious!!

You pick a major college, that is the most liberal in the State of Texas.

You realize, Austin is the San Francisco of Texas.

Take that same poll at Texas A&M and see where it comes out!!!!

UT Austin is the flagship university of the state and one of the best universities in the nation. Austin is a very liberal city, but is also a smaller silicone valley as well with a number of tech firms, internet security and cyberpace companies.

Austin also has one of the largest music scenes in all of the country and are world renowned for their South by Southwest fest and indie circuit.

maybe Tamu can align themselves with a conservative paper/site in Texas, if they can find one, and come up with whatever results they deem necessary

I think it's so early that the polls on the general pretty much mean nothing, and I didn't bother to look at the methodology they used to see how it was slanted (or not). That said, they have Perry up by 8, and McCain carried Texas by nearly 12% in 08--that's not that big of a difference. I'm surprised Romney didn't do better, but that could change dramatically once he's the nominee. Bottom line though is that there's no way Obama will carry the general in Texas. It's about as red state as it gets. Swing state polling would be a lot more interesting and tell more at this point.

Austin is really not that liberal. It's "Texas liberal", which is kind of like saying Tina Fey is drop dead goregous (not saying she's bad, by the way....)

no, it is pretty liberal: yes, you have a point as it isn't as liberal as say Boston or San Francisco, but it is certainly to the left.

Where do you live?

I live in this liberal hell hole. They spend more in the town on the liberal arts, than they do infrastructure. You cannot take a crap in this town, without paying for the privilege.

Compare property taxes of Austin and property taxes in San Fran.!!
