I've always suspected that voting for Mitt would be, in a sense, like voting for George H.W. Bush. I'm voting for Obama but I could live with another GHWB type president in office. The problem I have is that the really competent and balanced foreign policy thinkers like Weinberger, Schultz, Baker, and Scowcroft, are gone. Kissinger, if alive, wouldn't be much of a factor. They'd be left with the likes of bloggers, oil-execs, and AIPAC activists turned foreign policy gurus, which is dangerous. The first time (2000-2008) was bad enough, but we simply could not afford a repeat of this disaster.
And we all know how great Bush's foreign policy was. For 8 years, the United States was a laughing stock to the rest of the world.
That's true, especially the time under Rice as Sec Of State. She was a diplomatic disaster of industrial proportions. That just wasn't her thing. However many of the people of Mitten's list may be better than they appear on paper. If the Mitt gets elected we'll see because they won't be taking orders from Cheney who was still living in the 70's when it came to international relations, under W.
