What he hasn't told you is that $2.50 gas will be on the moon.

Put aside Romney's "highly situational" policies. The ability to communicate those goals effectively and project authenticity, are NOT trivial skills in a president.

Romney gives the vibe of a bad salesman who knows he's pitching a defective product. YOU TELL ME how you think a guy like that will fare the world stage, where the lives of civilizations are at stake.

Like I said, should he win, maybe he'll settle down and we'll get to know and appreciate the "real Romney".

But I suspect we are looking at a person who has spent a lifetime in a state of artificiality. I don't see him changing, unless something forces him too. If he wins the presidency with that mask in place, I don't see where the incentive to strive for authenticity is going to come from.

lol...it's pathetic and they show with topics like this who is really out of touch. Most of these Romney bashers are not from the south and I would venture to say have never stepped foot in East TN. They don't understand the references being made, but the people at the rally do. They really are grasping.

LOL. Look at the faces behind Romney again, and tell me how into Davy Crockett they looked.

The point isn't how we on the forum relate to "East Tennessee". It's how candidate Romney relates to them. And from the evidence of that video, the answer's... not so much.

LOL!!! I like the "Wha???" looks on some of the faces. Another 50's flashback from the Mastodon Party. Guess Tennessee doesn't have any current serious issues to talk about? Lucky state...
I am glad you are focusing on the serious issues like this and not the nation's fiscal house.

That crowd is obviously Romney supporters or they probably wouldn't be there...duh! If you had ever travelled through Tennessee, especially East TN...Gatlinburg, Chattanooga...every gift shop sells Davy Crockett memorbilia and yes, coonskin caps.

Romney is obviously connecting to somebody in TN, he is surging in the polls there.

I can't believe the stuff he gets criticized for. Gurbie, I respect the spirited debates we've had about Romney's political positions and character, but come on. Was Obama pandering to Al Green fans when he sang "Let's Stay Together?" This is ridiculous. He's not proposing a moonbase or anything

The best we've got? No. The best would be to simply point out his complete lack of any strongly held convictions on anything.

The fact that he's so shockingly awful at pandering is just icing on the flip-flopping, substance-free, out of touch cake.

The right crucified Al Gore and John Kerry for being stiff and awkward. Mitt is all that, only cranked up to 11, and with all substance removed.

FWIW I suspect Romney actually does hold positions and would probably be a pretty decent president. The problem is that he has to pander to an extremist, ignorant base to get the nomination. He's clearly uncomfortable doing it and comes off as an awkward, insincere, out of touch, serial flip flopper.

Ah, the GOP, the party of Amnesia.

Like we EVER want to go back to Republican fiscal policies

You guys should be grateful we're talking about Romney's communication skills. Maybe it will give your side time to come up with a new series of excuses to account for the Bush Depression/ Obama Recovery.
