That would have been fine by me. I voted for Hillary (who WON the CA primary by a half million votes, btw )

Guess the most important difference is that, during the 2008 battle, both Hillary and Barack's popularity ratings climbed steadily with voters throughout the process. That is what happens when two smart, dedicated public servants engage in honest, heart-felt debates about the issues critical to the health of the commonwealth.

The OPPOSITE is true of every GOP candidate. Last poll I saw, Mr Front-runner Romney was upside down 28-39 with all voters. The more voters get to know Romney, the less they like what they see.

I'm starting to think the election isn't going to be as close as I once thought. It won't be Reagan v. Mondale, but it could well be Clinton v. Dole, with the Dems taking back the house.

dixiegirl7"I know he is perceived as the GOP establishment candidate and to an extent he is, but he is not actually one of their good ole boy types so there is a hesitancy with some of the establishment even".

Correct BTW, Bill Clinton created the same unease within the DNC as BC was one of the first DLC men to run. DLC was new school than (Lieberman was a member), DNC was old school. As much as GOP likes to say they are pro business, I do think they feel a sense of unease at the establishment GOP level, with someone like MR who spent large chunks of his adult life in the private sector.

You forgot to mention that Romney and his PAC outspent Saintorum by 4 to 1., and still could only achieve a razor thin victory in Ohio.

Most pundits I've listened to, last evening and today, opine that Romney lost big yesterday. He won, but he lost. Low turnouts. Failure to excite the base. An overwhelming majority of those voting, voting against him. He's stiff. Mechanical. And not because he's got a 4 hour Cialis erection. He can't compete effectively against the President.

Lost big, while winning 6 of 10 states? Geez, I wish my Knicks would lose big!(sar)

Lost big while getting 50+% of delegates in a 4 man field? When #2 failed to get 100 of over 400 available.

Yep Romney won 60% of the states, over 50% of the delegates and most of the vote but he lost...Santorum didn't even receive delegates in GA, VA, MA and ID but he won!

When are you people going to get it? The GOP does not want Romney to get the nomination. It's a Mexican standoff, like in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Who's Tuco, Blondie, and Angel Eyes?

Angel Eyes - Romney
Tuco - Newt
Blondie - Ron Paul

The winner - Ron Paul

And you forgot to mention that Santorum and Gingrich have all had the right wing media at their beck and call doing their bidding for them for free. They are both on Fox News more than some that actually work there. They have Rush, Hannity, Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Levin and even cuckoo Glen Beck shilling for them every day for hours. They don't have have to spend any money on advertising. Romney has had to spend money on it, because he doesn't benefit from any of the free media exposure.
