Correct. Americans do not toerate extremists for long. The GOP needs to star putting distance between themselves and the nutjobs using the Party to further their own agendas. I am hoping and expecting a major reform of the GOP in the next couple of years, either the real Repubs need to walk away and create their own Party or purger the Party of the extremists and the oddballs saying they are going to takeover the Party for themselves, it would be nice to a real choice once again.

Bennett was back pedaling and even apologizing on local talk radio even before he supposedly got what he was asking for from Hawaii. He is Romney's AZ campaign manager. It is highly likely that the Romney people pulled the rug out from under him. Romney certainly does not want his name associated with the racially-motivated birther nonsense. Nevertheless, the fact that Romney has racists like this working for him makes the idea of voting for Romney a scary proposition.

What's even more scary if you live in AZ is that this wack-job Bennett is a "heartbeat away" from being governor.

Bennett is working the Jan Brewer plan. He is hoping that building up his credentials as a racist will garner him some votes from the JT Ready/Russell Pearce Tea Party wing of the GOP when he does run for governor. The backlash is beginning, but for now it is still good politics for an Arizona Republican to act like a skinhead racist.

Wanted to add birthers are racist so the label is well deserved.
