In most of the threads in this forum, I see posters who are either strongly Democratic or strongly Republican. Hardly any independents. I believe independents play a large role in determining the ultimate winner, so it would be interesting to know how many are planning to switch their choice this time. After all, if everyone stuck with their choice it would be a boring election, right?

So if the Presidential election was going to be held tomorrow, what would be your choice? Pick one out of the above.

Tough call. I like Obama, but I have to say I may hate the GOP policies (and behavior) more than I like Obama. He has been good, they have been god awful. So, the net emotional energy is negative. Sad to say.

Pencil me in as one who switched from voting for Obama in 2008 to Romney in 2012.

As to political affiliation, I'm a political agnostic. I think that it's possible that there might be a political party that doesn't suck and doesn't do more harm than good, but I've yet to see one with any chance of stepping up and making a difference. Both of our two big parties suck. But usually, one is worse than the other. IMO right now the Dems are the worse out of the two.

I started out life as a liberal democrat. However, over the last few years I have moved further and further right (kind of comes with the territory of owning a house, having a well paid job, investing, etc). I voted for Obama in the 08 election, only because I didn't trust McCain to last the entire presidency and I was scared of a Palin presidency.

However, I can not, nor will I, bring myself to vote for him again. I am now firmly entrenched in the GOP camp on most issues and unless a more moderate democrat presents him/herself, I will be voting Republican for the forseeable future.

I am a center-right voter. I call myself a Republican on this forum, but am really more of an independent (and we don't register with parties in TX, so I am not "officially" anything). I generally vote for Republicans, but do vote against Republicans when I feel it's necessary. I voted for Obama in 08 and don't like to admit that. I thought he would be a bad president, but I was voting against McCain/Palin (especially Palin) and not really for Obama. I never agreed with most of Obama's ideas and plans, especially his economic proposals, though I did hope he would live up to his promises of transparency and rising above the typical cronyism in Washington. I hoped he would at least try to be the "great uniter" he pledged to be. But of course he hasn't - if anything, the divisions have only become worse under Obama.

If McCain had not chosen Palin, I likely would have voted for him. Hell, if McCain had been even 5 years younger, I likely would have voted for him even with Palin on the ticket. But I could not bring myself to vote to put Sarah Palin one 72 year old heartbeat away from being the leader of the free world. That being said, I've always thought of McCain as a warmonger and McCain did not really have a good economic plan of his own, so I would have considered voting for Obama regardless - and was considering it even before he chose Palin. Still, Palin was the main reason I voted for Obama. I was kind of sick of Republicans in general in 2008, but I did vote Republican in the vast majority of down-ticket races.

This year - I will be voting for Romney....happily.

I'd give Romney more of a hearing than I did the superannuated warmonger and the creationist housewife in 2008. I don't think he's loony, just robotic and insincere. But the fact is that he's likely to be followed to Washington by a hard core of GOP crazies and I can't imagine voting for that.

I supported Obama in 2008, but this year I'm undecided. Neither candidate seems particularly appealing at this point. I might just vote for Gary Johnson.

though I am not thrilled with Romney I absolutely can't see a positive thing to say about Obama. The longer he is in office the worse things seem to get and the more he thinks he can just do whatever he wants, like the amnesty thing this morning. My hope is, Romney will surprise us and be a truely good or even great President. Thank God personality isn't the thing that makes a great Pres, if it did we would be in for big trouble.

BTW, my political views lay somewhere between slightly to the right and a mixture of libertarian and conservative.

Baldwin in 2008 Ron Paul this year. Oh and between Romney and Obama if a gun was to my head. Obama gladly because he only has 4 more years to screw the country up but Romney could have 8. I think they are both pieces of crap but what the heck.
