Conservative NYT columnist Rick Douthat says the Romney campaign has settled on what they think is a winning strategy- keep the campaign as boring and non- specific as possible, stick to tried and true GOP mom, god, and apple pie talking points and photo ops, avoid controversial issues like the plague, and let Obama die the death of a thousand negative economic indicators:

Romney the Cautious - NYTimes.com

This seems to be an accurate assessment. Will it work? Can Romney win by portraying a cardboard cut-out of generic Republicanism?

Will Americans fall for it?

Absolutely, he is as wooden as Gore. He just seems socially awkward.

The only thin Romney needs to do is piont to the economy and say that what Obama has done has not worked.

It's pretty simple really.

You are assuming that all of the unemployed are Democrats. Next you are assuming that the unemployed are going to vote for a party that tried to stall or derail any extension to unemployment payouts. Like I said. Good luck with that.
