No, I think he's saying that Obama has a better campaign strategy than Romney. He laid the groundwork by defining Romney in those early ads, and that left a lot of ground for Romney to make up.
And that one big advantage the Obama campaign has is the organization they have in place on the ground in just about every state. The Democrat's ground game made a huge difference in 2008. I'm frankly surprised the GOP didn't do more to emulate that successful strategy. They seem to think they can just throw up a flurry of negative ads at the end and that will be enough, but it's not all about money.
Defined Romney? Who do you think you're kidding? The Bain Attacks have been deemed by most analysts as ineffectual, considering that Romney has remained tied with the President. The only caveat to that would be that Romney would be aheadof Obama if it weren't the Bain Attacks. So how does that square with your logic that Obama has effectively defined Romney? If by defining you meant keeping Romney from zooming past Obama in the polls, then i'd reconcile that your candidate is WEAK....very WEAK. Knocking him down to tied is not what i'd call effective.

You answered your own question with the bolded lines. Aren't you always saying that in an economy this tough anyone on the right should be running away with this election? I'd say the Obama campaign has done a great job of not allowing that to happen. Of course, Romney himself has been a huge asset to the Obama team as well.

If Obama was as great as he thinks himself to be then he'd be way ahead in the polls. It's pretty much a dead heat and now Romney can spend a lot more money, hopefully to show what a disaster Obama is. Obama would like people to think he has it in the bag, but he doesn't.
A dead heat? The tracking polls have Obama at +5, and the electoral college count has NEVER been close. Never. Mitt has not let it once.
You know what I find hilarious about all of this? Koch, Adleson and the rest have pumped hundreds of millions into the election, and it's basically money going down the drain. Romney was supposed to sail away with the election, but the GOP is learning an important lesson: put up a bad candidate, and have him run a bad campaign full of bad ideas, and no amount of money in the world will save him. And what's more, Obama's recent ascension will help Democrats down ticket.
The upshot is that this should hasten the complete reorganization of the Republican party to bring it back in line with mainstream American politics.
2) This does not include Super PAC/interest group fundraising. Unlimited funds cannot be given to Romney/the RNC.
Authorized campaign committees (i.e. bundlers) can give unlimited amounts to national party committees, which is counted in a candidate's fundraising total on the FEC report, as they can both share their money and collude with the candidate, unlike PACs. Individuals are capped at $30,800 to the national party in both primary and general elections.
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama and Democrats pulled slightly ahead of Mitt Romney and Republicans in monthly fundraising in August for the first time in four months.
Obama raised more than $114 million in August and Romney brought in just over $111 million. The two campaigns announced their fundraising numbers early Monday
Bad news keeps coming, you can't be serious: first he barely beat him and 2-Romney has raised so much, there can't be than much more for him to raise...This amounts to absolutely nothing. It would have amounted to something had Romney struggled with the fund raising but he hasn't.
August is when Flip-Flop Romney picked Lyin' Ryan, and also doesn't include the funds Obama raised during the Dem convention.
Nice!
I wonder if the Ryan pick really did hurt Romney. People have been raving about Clinton's speech and Obama's bounce, but I wonder if when people saw Ryan's brazen lies, they were disgusted, and that is a big part of the shift. Romney is a weak candidate, who could not get himself a bounce, but he does seem to be an honorable, intelligent guy for the most part. Ryan is downright scary. He seems like some sort of sociopath or something.

The Ryan pick was a sop to the base to keep them from getting too discouraged. It wasn't meant to expand his electability. The big surprise was that it didn't result in a sizable increase in fundraising.

As an Obama supporter I must admit this news actually SHOCKED me but in a good way!
