If the Romney campaign isn't using his track record as governor of Massachusetts to show what measures he intends to take to improve the US economy, there is a reason.
Take a look at the title of this Globe article: "As governor, Romney faced similar economic situation as Obama -- with similar results"
Quote:
Like Obama, Romney could also point to an economy that was much improved from the worst of the recession. But, as with the US economy today, progress was slow, painstaking, and for many, disappointing.
At the end of his term, Romney could claim a small net job gain and a lower unemployment rate, but the pace of job growth lagged the nation badly and only a huge outflow of Massachusetts workers to faster growing states kept the unemployment rate from climbing higher.
And let's not forget, the article is from the Boston Globe... a left leaning rag sheet. Of course they're not going to give Romney a glowing report. They're going to skew it to look as bad as they can. Funny, there's no mention of what a pile of deficit Tax it all Duval's given to us in two terms. Even with all his budget cuts, the state is in the crapper.
He managed to balance the budget and bring the unemployment rate down to 4.5%, from 6%.
Yes, but he was running a rather small state, all told. And a number of Massachusetts residents (such as myself) had to leave the state entirely, because of the lack of jobs while he was governor. And of course, there was his remarkable shift to the reactionary wng of the GOP, onc we entered 2005.
Romney and his Lieutenant Governor took no salaries for the four years he was Governor. He also took no salary to save the Olympics. This is a special man. A man none of you liberals would understand. There is a differance between a taker and a giver. This man has lived his life as a helper of his fellow man. This man doesnt run around tooting his own horn. I dont even expect you to understand. We could all learn a thing or two from him.

Face it, Romney's a phony.
Fact: Massachusetts population grew under Romney from start to finish, despite the fact that the state was losing people when he took over.
Fact: Despite an increase in population the unemployment rate dropped down into the 4% range.
Your point is illogical. Romney did a bad job with employment, by having an increasing population and less people out of work?
Spin it any way you want, but Mitt Romney ended his governorship of Massachusetts with an approval rating in the 30s and appears to be on track to lose the state by roughly the same margin as McCain. If he was really so great I would think he would be fairing better.

Fortunately, any news organization that wants to delve deeper than Romney’s flackery — or beyond the story of Ann Romney’s super-expensive dressage horse hobby — can follow the trail blazed by Wayne Barrett in the Daily Beast, edited by Britain’s own Tina Brown.
Barrett’s stunning series of articles probes how Romney has cashed in on his Olympic connection — by raising huge amounts of money from businessmen tainted by the Salt Lake bribery scandal that he supposedly expunged.
Barrett’s first story examined Sead Dizdarevic, a ticketing and hospitality contractor who has banked many millions of dollars since Romney awarded him the 2002 deal that made him “the ticket king of the Olympics to this day.” Indeed, Dizdarevic is still profiting from the Games, including this summer’s London events where his company’s practices have forced him to issue a public apology.
Back in 2002, Dizdarevic confessed to giving more than $130,000 in hidden payments to the Salt Lake Olympic organizers. He made a deal with prosecutors to escape indictment in the scandal. Yet despite Dizdarevic’s role in the scheme, Romney signed off on his contract – and Barrett found that he, his relatives, and his business associates have donated as much as a million dollars to various Romney warchests over the past decade.
...as ABC News recently reported, the archive of 2002 Olympic records in Utah remains closed — and many of the financial and contractual documents that might prove most interesting most likely have been shredded or burned.
If Romney was so great why didn't he run for reelection?
