There's no magic about FEMA. More and more people are starting to recognize that.
FEMA is great contributor to deficit financing.
It's a system of bureaucratic centralized economic planning that is a policy that is deeply flawed. They contribute to deficit financing and, quite frankly, they don't have a penny in the bank.
FEMA is not a good friend of most people it says it is there to help. All they do is come in and tell you what to do and can't do. You can't get in your houses. And they hinder the local people, and they hinder volunteers from going in.
FEMA failing to respond in a timely, organized manner to the vast destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina, was the icing on the cake and opened many eyes just how they are there to control, not help.
FEMA is in big trouble financially. Their flood relief program is $20 billion in debt and cast doubt that additional emergency funds could be found for FEMA.
If you give money like this to the states for disaster relief most of it will not been used for what it was given to the states in the first place the money will be used for things that do not help people after a disaster.
I am acquiring a different perspective of Romney's position. I do not see the Federal Government giving the state a dime beyond a bridge loan for some rebuilding initiative. If the state wants $X, well then, let the state tax its people for it, or do without.
Romney's comments will hurt him considering FEMA will play a major role in the storm aftermath. No private company in world can handle a disaster affecting 60 million people.

60 million people better vote for Obama or come January, they could well be on their own dealing with the aftereffects of this event.

People would pay to be rescued I guess in Romney's ideal world.
"Send it back to the private sector."
That's all I hear from this man. There are certain things the private sector will not do because either they're too risky, not profitable, or are too expensive...
Let's not forget that even private contractors will get paid by government...
Report: Government spends billions more hiring contractors
As Washington's use of private contractors grows, the government is paying those contractors billions more than it would pay their government workers to do the same job, according to a new study...
Romney would be in favor of privatization to further enrich his cronies and himself. Period!
